Do you dream about dolling your cat up in makeup? No? How about bedazzling your own image with feline-themed beauty products? For the record, these are not passing thoughts that keep me awake at night -- but it seems that Karl Lagerfeld's cat Choupette is soon to become the face of a new line of makeup products aimed at filling this hitherto overlooked gap in the market.
Slated to hit retail stores this holiday season, the Shupette range is a collaboration between Lagerfeld and the Shu Uemua makeup brand. Early rumors suggest that the kitty-fabulous line will include furry false eyelashes, and all products will be packaged with bespoke quotes from the self-proclaimed "queen of cat naps."
If you're not up on the Choupette phenomenon, you can delve into her uber-catty social media ventures to gain a peek into the life of luxury she enjoys. (Her Twitter bio bills her as "a famous beauty who refuses to eat on the floor." "My maids pamper my every need," she writes. "I am Choupette Lagerfeld and I am a spoiled pussy.")
The Shupette range is touted as the very first collaboration between "a beauty name and a house pet." So I mentioned the news to my own cat, Mimosa. She seemed a little nonplussed -- although that may be because she was too busy dressing up in a pink tutu.
